Paul Gowens is currently a Health Foundation, GenerationQ, Leadership Fellow and has recently completed his MSc in Leadership at Ashridge Business School. He is currently undertaking a secondment to the Scottish Government, Health and Social Care Directorate as a national clinical advisor with a wide portfolio including, out of hospital cardiac arrest and major trauma systems. Paul has over twenty-five years of experience within the Scottish Ambulance Service and has fulfilled a number of key roles from a HEMS paramedic through to his current strategic role at Scottish Government. Previously Paul was the Head of Clinical Governance, Quality and Patient Safety and an active member of the Senior Management Team for the Scottish Ambulance Service. He has also had a number of external leadership roles, as Scottish council member for the College of Paramedics (UK) as well as sitting on the Allied Health Professionals Federation Scotland Board. He is a director for British Association of Immediate Medical Care Schemes (Scotland) and a member of the Scottish Trauma Audit Group. In his spare time Paul loves spending time with his long suffering wife Julie and their great kids, Scott and Megan. He also enjoys martial arts and won two bronze medals for Scotland at this years Taekwon Do world championships in Rimmini.
